John was attorney for M. Gorka Perea Salazar whom Spain was trying to extradite to serve a sentence for crimes allegedly committed in the Basque Country. He also defended Mr Miguel Angel Rodriguez Orejuela, accused of heading the Cali drug cartel. Canada was unsuccessful in its attempt to extradite him from Columbia.
